Billy Loomis: The Cruel Villain

William Billy Loomis is Scream’s secondary antagonist. He forced his best friend, Stu Macher, to join him on a Woodsboro killing spree after his parents’ divorce. He loves horror movies. He is also the biological son of Samantha Carpenter and Nancy Loomis, Sidney Prescott’s ex-girlfriend and archenemy.

Skeet Ulrich, who played Chris Hooker in The Craft and FP Jones in Riverdale, played him. In disguise, Roger L. Jackson spoke. In costume, Lee Waddell and Dane Farwell played Ghostface.

Background

Hank and Nancy Loomis had Billy on September 19, 1979. dated Sidney Prescott and befriended Stu Macher. After learning Hank had an affair with Sidney’s mother Maureen, Billy’s mother left. Mother abandonment severely disrupted Billy’s life.

After discovering Hank’s affair with Maureen, his girlfriend’s mother, Roman Bridger showed Billy the footage. Billy was convinced to kill Maureen because she caused Mrs. Loomis to leave Hank and Billy. Roman told Billy to frame another of Maureen’s lovers and find a simple accomplice to blame for the murder if it went wrong. Billy and Stu followed the plan.

While still seeing Sidney, Billy had an affair with Christina Carpenter in August 1996, which led to the birth of their daughter Samantha Carpenter on May 19, 1997. Her mother’s diaries proved Billy was her biological father, which Samantha hadn’t know for years. Billy never saw his daughter.

Personality

Billy was kind and gentle, but his father’s affair with Maureen Prescott, Sidney Prescott’s mother, destroyed his family. Their psychotic breakdown turned him into a sociopath monster. He was sly and planned every murder and Sidney’s attacks to hide his crimes.

When Billy Loomis forces his best friend, Stu Macher, to join him on a killing spree in Woodsboro because he loves horror movies, his murderous instincts take over. Despite saying it is “scarier when there is no motive”, he tells Sidney and Stu that a killing spree is a sophisticated retaliation against Maureen Prescott. Billy is angry because his mother left him after his father had an affair with his girlfriend’s mother, Maureen. Her notorious promiscuity caused his family to break up. He kills Maureen and frames Cotton, her other lover, for revenge.

After they frame Cotton, he kills Stu and tortures his grieving girlfriend Sidney in an elaborate revenge plot to frame her father for his murders a year later. Billy fails this time when Sidney kills the insane couple in Stu’s home.

Billy’s affair with Christina Carpenter is revealed 25 years after his death. Samantha, his illegitimate daughter, commits a similar murder spree Billy planned.

The Woodsboro Murders (1996)

A year after Maureen’s murder, Billy and Stu killed Steven Orth and Casey Becker. Billy contacted Casey following Stu’s murder of Steven. Following Casey’s punch to Stu at the window, Billy apprehended her. He stabbed and strangled her multiple times. After Casey sustained serious injuries to her legs, neck, and chest from stabbings, Stu assisted Billy in disemboweling and hanging her. Because he’s wearing a generic Halloween costume that everyone has, identifying the killer is next to impossible. This costume helped the serial killer in the Scream films become known as Ghostface. The next night, Billy and Stu plan to visit Sidney.

Stu attempts to assassinate Sidney after calling her on the phone; he does this while disguised as Ghostface. Sidney is “comforted” by Billy’s presence as he storms through her window. Sidney notices that a cloned cell phone is likely her father’s when it falls out of his pocket. As soon as her eyes land on him, she immediately recognizes him as the mastermind behind the attack’s instigation and execution. As she hurries down the stairs, he yells out to her, saying, “Whoa, whoa, wait…” What’s happening? Hey, Sidney! Come back! This is Sidney. The sight of Dewey, clad in the Ghostface mask, and the arrival of the police at her residence startle her as she opens the door. The next step is for the police to apprehend Billy and transport him to the Woodsboro Precinct.

At the police station, Burke interrogated Billy, who was accompanied by his father Hank. Billy denied calling Sidney and harassing him by saying that everyone had a cell phone in response to Burke’s question about why Billy had a phone. “Oh my goodness, look at the phone bill!” “I stand by my son,” Hank says. After that, he wants to know if he can contact Vital Phone Comp, since they log all incoming and outgoing calls.

In the end, Billy uncovers Sidney’s ruse by opening a door to his room and finding the TV set to Halloween. Billy takes a beating at the hands of Sidney, posing as Ghostface, who then stabs him twice in the chest. As Sidney begins to remove her Ghostface costume, Stu quickly emerges from the kitchen and approaches her. Randy gets well after shooting and killing Stu, which is good news for Sidney. However, Billy gets to his feet and strikes Randy as well. As he attempts to choke her, Sidney pokes her finger into one of his knife wounds. But this just serves to enrage Billy more, and he takes up his knife to cut himself. After Gale shoots Billy and gets him up, Billy passes out.

Just as Randy had foretold, Billy eventually opened his eyes and let out a startling grunt, shocking the survivors. Sidney, who possesses an innate sense of survival, confidently takes aim at Billy Loomis and strikes him square in the forehead, thereby officially ending his life. He was portrayed by Skeet Ulrich, who was previously Chris Hooker in The Craft and FP Jones in Riverdale. Undercover actor Roger L. Jackson contributed his voice. Ghostface was portrayed in costume by Lee Waddell and Dane Farwell. In Scream 6, Billy Loomis has a brief appearance in CGI. The villain from the first film, Skeet Ulrich, reprises his role for a second time.
